The
North Adams County Neighborhood Watch had their spring meeting at the
Town Hall in April. Members were told about keeping an eye open for
suspicious activities and to please call the police if anything is
seen or heard. This goes for ATVs not following the rules. If you see
someone speeding or riding where they are not supposed to be, please
call the police. Only 30 calls were logged in the lat two years, so
even though many of you see ATV riders not following the rules, you
are not reporting them to the Police Dept. Police need to know the
color of the ATV, the color the rider is wearing if yo notice it, the
direction the ATV is traveling ahnd where you saw it. Calls need to be
made immediately, because getting a call the next day doesn’t help
at all. The Rome Police have a new ATV for policing the trails.
Sevewral part time police officers have been hired to help police the
lakes by boat. They will be working weekends, and odd times during the
week to assist the police and DNR in patrolling our waters to make it
safe for boating, swimming and fishing.
