ROME POLICE DEPARTMENT

Stop in and say HI to your new Police Chief, Adam Grosz.  Sergeant Grosz was  appointed as Police Chief for the Town of Rome with the retirement of Chief Gary Gronos on January 1, 2006.  Jolene Orlowski has been hired as a full-time Officer to fill the position left by Sergeant Grosz upon taking his oath as Police Chief.

ATV SAFETY COURSE offered by Officer Dave Lewandowski.  This course is for individuals 12-years of age or older and is being held at the Rome Town Hall on Saturday, March 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 19 from11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with a ½ hour lunch period each day.  Pre-registration is necessary, call 325-8020 or 325-8013.

As you are aware, snow, rain, sleet and ice can make driving a real challenge as we have experienced in the last several weeks.   The Police Department received many calls for assistance due to over-turned vehicles, vehicles in ditches, etc.  Please drive with extreme caution and reduce your speed on slippery roads.

We know it is not easy to think that winter is still here, but we must be reminded that snow emergencies can still exist during the next several months.  Parking restrictions on town roads during snow emergencies is necessary to assist our highway department during snow removal.  No parking on town roads or shoulders during snow emergencies until the road has been plowed.  The policy is necessary to assist our highway department with snow removal and the application of sand/salt mixture on intersections when the roads are slippery.

Remember also, that although we do have a 24-hour, seven day a week Police Department, the Patrol Officers are not always in the office to answer the phone.  If you have an emergency situation call 9-1-1.

There is an Administrative Assistant, located in the Rome Municipal Building, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. available to answer the telephone for the Police Department and get a message to the on-duty Patrol Officer right away if necessary.   If during evening hours you would like to talk to a Police Officer and one is not available, leave a message on the answering machine and an Officer will contact you immediately upon hearing your message.
