FIREWISE COMMITTEE NEEDED FOR LAKE CAMELOT

The LCPOA Board is very interested in the Firewise Program. We have been talking with state representatives, and the fire warden in Wisconsin Rapids to get the program going. By becoming an organized group concerned about Fire Safety, the state will assist us to develop a plan for our area, set goals, and do something every year to reach those goals. As a first step, we need to identify and prioritize the areas around Camelot that need cleaning out. A committee is needed by March 15 to go with the fire Warden, the Fire Department representative, and a board member to gather information. If you are interested in helping with this, please call Sue at the 325-5083 to get your name on the list for this project.

Within the Firewise program, and with a written and approved plan of action, we can substantially reduce the risk of wildfires around the Lake Camelot area. Many volunteers will be needed because we have a lot of green areas to address. If you sign up to volunteer, you will be working with a team in an assigned area. As we do not want to lose the woods atmosphere of our community, we will be careful to not remove any living trees or bushes, just dead and downed trees and brush.

Looking around, this will be a HUGE project, but the end result will be worth all the work involved. We will need teams to do physical labor, and people to coordinate workers or provide refreshments on work days. Please sign up to help – we sure can use you.
