Camping Permit Process and Information

Expanded Lodge Hours – Beginning Friday, April 7th, the Lodge will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Although you may pay your dues and complete all paperwork, camping permits are not valid until Saturday, April 15th. This means your camping unit cannot be left on the property without someone in attendance until after than date or you will be subject to a $100.00 per day fine. Please remember – the upstairs business office does not issue permits. Permits will only be available Friday – Monday at the front desk until Memorial Day weekend when the lodge resumes summer hours.

Information – A camping permit application has been included in this newsletter to help expedite the process when you come to the lodge for your permit. Here are a few items to remember when filling in the application and through the season.

-          A sanitary system surcharge of $10.00 per unit (including tents) will be assessed on each camping lot without a state approved sanitary system located on said property. If you own two properties side-by-side and have a septic system on one lot, a fee will be assessed on the second lot if you choose to use it for camping.

-          Only the property owner (name is on the deed) may apply for a camping permit. If a relative or guest of the owner applies, a permit will not be granted without a signed letter of permission from the property owner.

-          Dues, fines and penalties must be paid on ALL property owned by the applying property owner before a permit will be issued. A valid membership card will be required at the time of application.

-          The “trailer location” portion of the application must be completed, including the setback numbers for each unit.

-          Do NOT mail the application to the lodge – you must come in with your application to pick up your permit. We will not mail the permit to you.

-          A camping permit must be applied for and displayed in the window of your unit before or at the time the camping unit is brought to the property. Keep this in mind if you have your unit delivered, or if you plan to bring the unit when the front desk is not open, to avoid a violation of the camping regulations.

-          Camping permits are not valid until April 15th. This means, even if the permit is displayed, the unit may not be left on the property without someone in attendance before that date without being subject to a $100.00 per day fine. Please plan accordingly when bringing your camping unit to your property.

-          All camping permits must be displayed so they can be clearly viewed from the road.

-          It is not permitted to run any gray water or sewage water onto or into the ground (including the greenways) at any time.

Sanitary Stations – Although the camping season is April 15th – Nov. 30th, the opening and closing of the sanitary stations depends on the weather. They will not be opened until the danger of frost has passed and closed when the danger of frost recurs in fall to protect the hose towers. This may or may not coincide with the beginning or end of the camping season. The flushing process is very important to the overall function of the systems. Some people have ignored the “closed” signs and used the stations without the needed water, which results in a plugged system and a very messy situation. Please use the stations only when they are in full operation and be responsible for your waste during those other times.
