CAMPING PERMIT PROCESS AND INFORMATION

*ATTENTION:  The camping season dates and process may change to comply with the Town of Rome ordinances. Please check our website for updates.

Expanded Lodge hours- Beginning Friday, April 6th, the Lodge will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 9am to 5pm. Although you may pay your dues and complete all paperwork, camping permits are not valid until April 15th. This means your camping unit cannot be left on your property without someone in attendance until after that date or you will be subject to a $100.00 per day fine. Please remember- the upstairs office does not issue permits. Permits will only be available Friday-Monday at the front desk until Memorial Day weekend when the Lodge resumes summer hours.

Information- The camping permit application has been included in this newsletter to help expedite the process when you come to the Lodge for your permit. Here are a few items to remember when you fill in the application and through the season:

  • Please do not mail your application to the Lodge-you must come in with your application to pick up the permit, as we will not mail the permit to you.
  • A sanitary system surcharge of $10.00 per unit (including tents) will be assessed on each vacant lot without a state approved septic system located on said property. If you own two properties side-by-side and have a system on one lot, a fee will be assessed on the second lot if you use it for camping.
  • Only the property owner (name is on the deed) may apply for a camping permit. If an owner wants a guest or relative to apply for them, a permit will only be granted with a signed letter of permission from the property owner.
  • Dues, fines and penalties must be paid on ALL property owned by the applying property owner before a permit will be issued. A valid membership card will be required at the time of application.
  • The “trailer location” portion of the application needs to be complete, including setback numbers for the unit.
  • A permit must be applied for and displayed in the window of the unit before or at the time the camping unit is brought to the property. Keep this in mind if you have your camper delivered, or if you bring the unit when the front desk is not open, to avoid a violation of the camping regulations.
  • All camping permits must be displayed so they can be clearly viewed from the road.
  • It is not permitted to run any grey water or sewage water onto or into the ground (including the greenways) at any time.
Sanitary Stations- Although the camping season is April 15th to November 30th, the opening and closing of our stations depends on the weather. They will not be opened until the danger of frost has passed and closed when danger of frost recurs in the fall to protect the hose towers. This may or may not coincide with the beginning or ending of the camping season. The flushing process is very important to the overall function of the systems. Some people have ignored the “closed” signs and used the stations without the needed water, which results in a plugged system and a very messy situation. Please use the stations only when they are in full operation and be responsible for your waste during those other times
