NORTH ADAMS COUNTY NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

The North Adams County Neighborhood Watch had their winter meeting at the Town Hall in January. Members were told about keeping an eye open for thefts happening on Construction sites in town and to please call the police if anything suspicious is seen or heard. This goes for ATVs not following the rules. If you see someone speeding or riding where they are not supposed to be, please call the police. Only 30 calls were logged in the last two years, so even though many of you see ATV riders not following the rules, you are not reporting them to the Police Dept. Police need to know the color of the ATV, the color the rider is wearing if you notice it, the direction the ATV is traveling and where you saw it. Calls need to be made immediately, because getting a call the next day doesn’t help at all. The Rome Police have a new ATV for policing the trails.

The Police Dept.asked the Neighborhood Watch Volunteers to help in any town disaster as part of the disaster response plan. Volunteers will be given special vests to wear while assisting.

Officer Lewandowski will be teaching an ATV Safety class in Rome in April. Please call the 325-8020 to sign up. On March 17, there will be a Law Enforcement Day at the Mall in WI Rapids. There will be a display of all the latest technology in safety vehicles.

Also, several part time police officers will be hired to help police the lakes by boat. They will be working weekends, and odd times during the week to assist the police and the DNR in patrolling our waters to make it safe for boating, swimming and fishing.
