As I write this, I’m looking out on a cold, damp landscape, recalling all the enjoyable activity of this past summer.  It was a great summer to spend on a lake.   The Lake Camelot Frolics in August was outstanding, especially the Fireworks.  And, you probably noticed that our lodge was spruced up by our office staff, Arlene, Sharell and Sue.  As you drive down Leisure Lane, Kingsway and a few other areas, you’ve noticed the result of your neighborhood volunteer’s efforts to clean up the common areas and reduce the fire danger through the FIREWISE program, led by Corky Grisham.  As a result, we hope to be recognized as a FIREWISE community; only the second to do so in the entire state.  We all need to do our part as volunteers to protect our environment.  We hope more of you will make yourselves available.

We had an emergency with the dam on Kingsway recently that required immediate removal of all our watercraft.  The extent of the repair is still unknown, and the lakes continue to be drawn down to better assess the problem.  Those of you receiving this newsletter electronically received instant e-mail alerts informing you of the situation when it occurred.  We will continue to send e-mail alerts as the situation warrants.  Sign up at www.lakecamelot.org

This is my first opportunity to formally welcome our new board members who were voted in this past June.  Roland Geiger, Corky Grisham, Beth Jasiak, Diane Schroeder and Dave Wickersham joined our returning board members Jerry Lipski, Jeanne Osgood and Dan Schneider.  And, we can’t forget the many contributions of our outgoing board members, Bob DeMarsh, Roger Dray, Bruce Duellman, Arlene Scalzo and Terry Schroeder.

We have an excellent mix on our board, and I look forward to accomplishing great things for our membership, through their efforts.  Join us at the next board meeting, the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM, excluding December.  Feel free to send an e-mail with your thoughts and suggestions at lcpoa@scacable.com.
