BEACH CLUBS:

                            Dave Wickersham, Board Memeber

This past boating season we have had a few more concerns regarding beach club overcrowding with boats, boat owners "claiming" beach parking spots as their own, and boats parked in designated swim areas.  With more offshore lots being sold and used, more boats are on the lake and seeking parking at their beach clubs.  As the beach frontage is obviously limited, these problems will only increase with time.

A Beach Club Committee to assist in handling these and other issues among subdivision members has been proposed.  Our goal is to include one member from each Lake Camelot beach club.  Dave Wickersham, LCPOA Board Member and Appleby beach club member would chair the committee.  "Meetings" would be via email or phone to maximize participation, but occasionally on-site visits may be needed.  Several property owners have already volunteered to be on the committee and additional volunteers are being sought.  We anticipate this committee being involved with development of a 5-year plan to deal with the many issues that will arise regarding beach clubs and to anticipate the changes necessary to preserve the lake.

Regarding watercraft being left at beach clubs after the mandatory October 15, 2006 removal date:  These will be removed and stored at the LCPOA clubhouse, with fines accruing until they are claimed.  In past years, those craft left unclaimed were disabled and taken to the Rome transfer site for disposal.  Our recent legal consultation states that LCPOA may sell those craft that are abandoned. We are looking at procedures to do this, with an auction at the annual meeting in June or the Frolic in August as initial suggestions.  Posting pictures on the LCPOA website and a possible online auction has also been proposed.  This would be one policy the beach club committee would help develop.

If you are interested in being a member of the Beach Club Committee, contact the LCPOA office by email, phone or snail mail.  Provide your name, home address, Lake Camelot address, beach club affiliation, home phone and email address.
